The large site is bounded by Cherry Blossom Avenue to the east, Copper Beech Avenue to the south, established housing to the west and Remarkables Park Town Centre to the north. Three buildings step down the gently sloping site with two landscaped courtyards that run north-south between them. There is an existing large open-air car park to the west of the site.

The 78 apartments in Toru East are being sold on the open market from $495,000, while New Ground Living is retaining ownership of a large number of the apartments in Toru Central and Toru West which will be made available to Queenstown employers and local households as professionally managed and affordable rental accommodation – something that is greatly needed in Queenstown. At the bottom of the central building is a Residents’ Lounge for these tenants. Two feature outdoor areas link this lounge to the café at the bottom of the western building and provide an activity hub for the development.

Inspired by chalet design, the buildings have rows of balconies with gable roofs that give shape and rhythm to the long façades. Large picture windows provide natural light and a beautiful outlook. In the courtyards, SOLA Landscape Architecture have used local materials and native planting to create an inviting landscape in keeping with the local vernacular.

The various apartment types available for sale have efficient plans that follow a standardised kitchen and living arrangement but differ in the number of bedrooms coming off this central zone. The kitchen and bathroom are located to the rear of the apartment to maximise the natural light and views for the bedrooms and living. All units have a balcony or private court – many with spectacular views of the Remarkables and Crown Range to the east and Coronet Peak to the north.

The apartments are well-appointed and almost all bedrooms feature large double-wardrobes. The kitchens are a good size and feature quality cabinetry.

Whilst most of the apartments are large enough for a dining table, the island bench can also function as the main dining zone. The bathrooms are modern and functional.
